SUMMARY:

Responsible for fabricating and assembling, general and specialty signs as well as decals, stickers and banners. Work is performed with limited supervision.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Fabricates and/or assembles various sign types. Sign types range from channel letters, illuminated channel letters, solid metal or acrylic letters, sign cabinets, wayfinding signs (suite signs), directional signage, box signs, and pylons signs. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

Assists others in loading materials for CNC machines, large format printing, engraving, as well as assisting in signage installation.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of basic and advanced materials utilized to make related signs;

Knowledge of sign fabrication techniques;

Knowledge of applicable traffic sign design software applications an asset but not required;

Knowledge of safe work practices;

Skilled in operating applicable tools and equipment of the trade;

Skilled in monitoring and maintaining inventory;

Skilled in applying independent judgment, personal discretion, and resourcefulness in interpreting and following construction and assembly drawings;

Skilled in fabricating traffic signage;

Skilled in prioritizing, organizing, and managing multiple simultaneous projects;

Skilled in reading, interpreting, applying, and explaining rules, regulations, policies, and procedures;

Skilled in providing customer service;

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

One year of experience in designing and fabricating signs

Requires a valid Alberta Driver’s License

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Frequent climbing, balancing, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, talking, seeing, hearing, and manual dexterity.

Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.

Work is typically performed in standard manufacturing shop.
